BAY HARBOR GOLF CLUB
GREAT GOLF ON THE SHORES OF LAKE MICHIGAN AT
BAY HARBOR GOLF CLUB
By Ken Liebeskind
Yalesville, Connecticut
The Bay Harbor Golf Club, set on the shores of Lake Michigan and Little Traverse Bay, has been called the Pebble Beach of the Midwest. Three distinct nines designed by Arthur Hills are set amidst sweeping shoreline bluffs, dunes, rugged rock formations and verdant woodlands, providing spectacular views as well as some of the most challenging golf you'll get in the Midwest or across the country.
The Links, the Quarry and the Preserve at Bay Harbor Golf Club are the three nines that can be played in different combinations for 18 layouts that challenge every skill level.
The Links is a 3,432 yard nine close to the water that's modeled after the windswept shores of Scottish links golf. Highlights start near the beginning of the nine, with a drive from an elevated tee on the 437 yard par 4 2nd and a risk reward hole on the 3rd, where you can hit a long drive to the fairway or lay up for a longer shot to the green.

The 7th is a 500 yard par 5 with a fairway along Lake Michigan that sits on cliffs 150 feet above the water with a two-tiered green close to the cliffs that risks a lost ball long or right.
The Quarry at Bay Harbor Golf Club, a 3,348 yard nine, is the toughest of the three, with the 3rd, a 561 yard par 5 playing along the quarry, which must be carried on the approach shot to the green below. The 6th is a short 332 yard par 4 with a peninsula green surrounded by wetlands.
The Preserve is a traditional northern Michigan layout through the woods with highlights including no. 2, a 341 yard par 4 with carries over swamp to no. 4, a 577 yard par 5 with a split fairway. The finishing hole is a downhill 186 yard par 3 with Lake Michigan in the background.
We suggest you have some exceptional clubs to play the nines at the Bay Harbor Golf Club. www.scientificgolfclubs.com, the site that specializes in scientifically designed clubs, offers everything from long distance drivers to putters that are guaranteed to improve your game. Choose from the Condor 460cc Square-Head Driver, the max size driver with a square head that promotes accuracy to the Condor Stand Up Putter, which is scientifically weighted to stand on its own so you can back away to line up putts you'll hit accurately to the hole. The Condor All Purpose Wedge is another great selection. It's the one wedge that replaces separate sand, lob and pitching wedges and features a unique rounded design that scoops balls from bunkers, rough and hardpan.
