CASCADES COURSE IN THE VIRGINIA MOUNTAINS IS A REAL WINNER

Virginia's top golf course is the Cascades course at the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, in the Allegheny Mountains, a 6,659 yard par 70 gem that offers the best scenic mountainside golf.
The Cascades course, ranked 13th best in the U.S. by Golf magazine and Virginia's best course by Golf Week, features long, narrow fairways, fast greens and the beautiful headwaters of the Cascade Stream, which come into play on half the holes, especially the closing three. The 16th hole is a 527 yard par 5 with traps on the fairway, a pond in the front and the creek to the right. Seventeen and 18 hug the stream and pond with the 18th a long par 3 from an elevated tee over the pond to an elevated green.

The course was laid out to take advantage of the land's natural variations, so you get plenty of downhill and uphill tee shots, tee shots to sloping fairways, with tight fairways and thick rough.
