Golfers in Connecticut have a great course to play in Milford. The Great River Golf Club, a Tommy Fazio design, has been rated 34 on Golf Digest's list of top public golf courses in the U.S.
The par 72 course that plays 7, 209 yards from the tips at a 75.5 rating and 152 slope, offers two different layouts. The front nine is traditional links style, with wide rolling fairways and water and the back nine is tree lined. The greens at Great River Golf Club vary from long and narrow to wide and shallow and are very fast. The signature hole is number 15, a downhill par 3 with its green perched on the bank of the Housatonic River.

You'll be challenged by 12 water holes at Great River Golf Club, with six bordering the Housatonic. Winds whipping up off the river make the shots extra testy.The longest par 5s are the 570 yard 8th and 573 yard 12th. Two long par 4s are the 442 yard 2nd and the 441 yard 16th.
