LONGEST DRIVE IN GOLF HISTORY
WHO HIT THE LONGEST DRIVE IN GOLF HISTORY?
By Ken Liebeskind
Yalesville, Connecticut
Did Mike Austin hit the longest drive in golf history at the National Seniors Open in 1974? Or did Paul Slater hit the longest drive in golf history during the London Golf Show at the London City Airport in 2005?
Austin's drive, which traveled 515 yards is generally recognized as the longest drive in golf history, but a report on Slater's drive claimed it traveled 720 yards, beating a previous record of 696 yards by Australian Tour pro Stuart Appleby, both longer than Austin's.
A report on Austin's longest drive in golf history said we should "forget airport runways," where Slater's drive was hit. Austin's longest drive in golf history was hit in tournament play on a 450 yard hole. It landed just short of the green and bounced 65 yards past, assisted by a 30 MPH tailwind. After Slater hit his longest drive in golf history he said, "I knew is it was right as soon as I hit it. You know when you've hit a good shot, you get the surge going right up through your body."

Slater said his driver had a 2 1/2 degree loft and "the stiffest shaft I ever played."
How can you hit your longest golf drive? 460cc drivers, with the largest heads permitted by the U.S.G.A. Rules of Golf are popular but how about a 460cc driver that's coated with an armor-piercing metal once used on Defense Department missiles that hits the ball even farther?
The coated head is the secret behind the Controller 460cc driver from www.scientificgolfclubs.com, the company renowned for its scientifically designed golf clubs and gear. The coating is twice as hard as steel and 70 percent harder than titanium, so it outhits all steel and titanium drivers. The Controller 460cc driver also features a 45 1/2 inch, 69-gram high-fiber graphite shaft that swings extra fast to help you maximize distance.
Golfers who tested the Controller 460cc driver hit drives 20 to 40 yards farther than their high priced clubs and a long ball champ said it's the most powerful driver he's used in over 20 years.
Long distance golf drivers frequently cost over $400, but you'll pay less than one third the price for the Controller 460cc driver from NGC Golf, which combines its scientific mastery with a low online price to make it the club that's impossible to beat.
